Krys: You diabolical bastard you. Did you know that the either the KGB or GRU assassinated somebody in England by "accidentally" jabbing him with an umbrella which contained a tiny pellet of Ricin (a poisonous castor bean derivative). The man appologise for poking that indivudal and promptly got into a waiting car or a taxi (can remember) and was never seen again. It isnt really a self defense weapon because it take 10-12 hours to start to kick in but it its an excellant hit weapon, except those who would be wacked would probally be aware of it.

Yes I heard about it, wasn't it the bulgarian secret service?.... actually this was first used by the south secret service against ANC leaders.... they also tried to kill one leader used a t-shirt imbibed with poison but didn't succeed... this were all results of the research program of the infamous "doctor death" doctor Basson....

i'll pm you about the nightvison googles.... will look at russian models...

hey krys! looks like you have a nice weapon there. can you send me any schematics on how to make one?
Hello shootdog... need an umbrella for the rainy season ?

unfortunately I don't have any schematic on how to make this one... but I think it isn't that difficult to make.... the most difficult part is the opening mechanism...

have a look of the second picture to see it

All I've got to say is damn our legal system!!...well, sometimes at least.
I hear where you are coming from but it would be better to worry about the drug-crazed asshole trying to take you down. The bad guys of the world have no problems with stabbing you 50 times before you hit the ground and then a few more times after that.

Having said that, I have been entertaining the thought of improv weapons and most importantly practicing using them. Does anybody here ever seriously practice using an umbrella, or rolled up newpaper in their training? I suggest, (and Im talking to myself also) that you impliment these improvised weapons in your training. I go through drills using a metal chair, books, anything I can get my hands on these days so that I will get my body accustomed to picking these things up and using them. I also suggest practcing footwork drills around obstances such as trees fences, lamp posts (make sure you do this ALONE!! Just to make the training more realistic.
You definitely need to know use of force and the law. If you incorporate use of force in with scenario training then you shouldn't be so afraid of making a mistake in the street.

On one of his video tapes Danny Inosanto stated that if he was going into a funky area he carried Cayenne Pepper in a plastic bag in his pocket. If he anticipated an altercation, he would puncture the bag, let the pepper flow into his hand, throw it in the face of the attacker, and start wailing on him....
OC sprays and the like are good and worth the consideration just remember that they don’t work against everyone. I’ve seen guys eat that stuff for breakfast. How many times on the TV program cops have we seen someone get sprayed but they continued to fight or drive off? I have been sprayed a time or two by friends goofing around and let me tell you I chased em’ down and gave em’ a good pounding or I waited until they weren’t expecting it and then I sprayed them back.

You can spray em' but some people can still use your head as a battering ram against the cold hard curb.

Further, I was told....but you guys may already know this, if the person is intoxicated, these sprays will not affect them easily. Then again an intoxicated person's pain threshold is higher and there's probably alot that won't affect them.....I was also told that the higher level of melanin a person has in their skin the more resistant they are to the effects as well. Only 4 months into training but I find improvised weaponry fascinating. I'm wary of carrying weapons other than a spiked key chain but I wanted to know your views and if you guys have actually utilized paper or credit cards as weapons.. I know you guys won't go there...but to any ladies out there, I found that the bottom edge of the lip gloss tubes bears consideration (ok guys you can stop laughing now..... Any way...that's my 2 and1/4 cents...be good!

I was jumped by 3 21-23 year olds when I was 14 late at night. I was beaten pretty badly and robbed. Now and since then (I'm 20 now) I carry a butterfly and a pair of knuckles. I hope the occasion does not arrise where I fill a need to use them. But if it does, they are there.

If one is to be carrying deadly weapons just be sure you know & be ready to use them. There is no room to stop & think about what law will affect you once you are in a situation you just have to do what ever it takes to defend yourself & worry about the consequebces later, if you survive.

Luckily all have been cool to me so far. I got into a fight with a guy awhile back and when it was over and I was trying to pull out of the parking lot, several cops blocked me in. One of the cops found my butterfly, asked it I knew it was illegal to which I played dumb. He searched the car, found nothing else and through it back in.

Kinda funny but I carry a brace of throwing knives with me usually. The main reason is I like to throw knives but they would work well in a self defense situation.

Not to mention I am pretty accurate with them so if need be I can wound or disable or what not. They arent really big enough to be lethal but I dont really want to kill anyone anyway. So its all good.

I was looking into an extendable a while ago. They seem pretty useful.

Have you ever learned to throw knives well? I have been doing it for about 3 years. It takes a while but I have trained on moving targets quite a bit. Using a wooden weighted blade instead of a real one of course but it isnt as hard as you think. Its the same as everything really. Throwing darts, throwing axes, even shooting a gun. Takes practice to hit a moving target with a gun too.

Its very hard to do well and I need about 10 feet of distance but I can still do it. Havent mastered side arm or underhand yet so I cant really do it from closer.

Now with a rifle its different although you must keep the barrel constant with the target, anyways pistol takes the most practice personally because of the short site radius and is less instinctive.

I'm becomming the sherwinc of munitions from now on all threads i comment on will turn into a discussion of firearms, explosives, boobytraps, combat, and much much more. jk
Hey man, have you tried your luck at archery or with a crossbow?

Yeah, they are outdated weapons, but take great control and care. I'll never master either of them, but are an interesting hobbie and for hunting.

yo h2h. last i checked the m4 was made by colt industries. you're correct about the m4 being part of the ar-15 family. it is actually a carbinized (shortened) m16A2 rifle. it is reputed to be one of the most versatile assault rifles in the world and is used b y just qabout every elite force in the world.

are you szaying that h&k makes m4s now?

                              thanks man!

and don't go shooting any abusive ladies now...
