Takes practice to hit a moving target with a gun too.

Its very hard to do well and I need about 10 feet of distance but I can still do it. Havent mastered side arm or underhand yet so I cant really do it from closer.
Of course I have learned to throw knives,Hasn't every kid at some time in their life? I did it just for fun, and I am (was) pretty good at it, but I would never trust my life to it.

        throwing knives?

Sheesh, the problem is- you throw them, if they miss, you arm your opponent. Give me a korambit any day and a good well built BIC pen. With the pen you don't have to worry about being frisked or get a concealed weapons charge against you. Reality should have set in about now, you carry a weapon- you will get caught, or use it and get caught, hurt someone and get caught, forget about it and get caught. That's what martial arts skills are for, so you can use your body AS A WEAPON or be able to grab a broom, a pen, a chair and augment your body skills. Anybody that just automatically carries a weapon is so insecure about their skills or is just plain ignorant.

Now, before I get flamed- there is a difference between stupidity and ignorance. Stupidity is not knowing and not caring or knowing and not caring. Ignorance is not knowing but wanting to know and caring. If you know the laws and still choose to ignore them- you are stupid. If you know the laws and are working to work around them or within them - you are ignorant.

I don't think anyone practices throwing knives for self defence just fun.

Not to mention I am pretty accurate with them so if need be I can wound or disable or what not. They arent really big enough to be lethal but I dont really want to kill anyone anyway. So its all good.

I was looking into an extendable a while ago. They seem pretty useful.
well this sounds like he is serious

              UMP: http://www.hkpro.com/ump.htm
              MP7: http://www.hkpro.com/pdw.htm
              P-90: http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg13-e.htm
              MP5K: http://www.hkpro.com/mp5k.htm

There are alot of there too like greese gun, uzi, mp9, i could go on but i'm going to turn on the idiot box and see what on shortly. Hears and amusing article about the UN and their weapons.

let's just say that you are a "bush master" H2H...

i used to be into the gun thing deep. that p-90 is really great, i even have a p-90 bullet (not the submachinegun) at home. it's really queer -- a 5.7 caliber bullet.

My new carry package that I started doing just recently.

                Personal protection
                1) Key chain- I added a small LED light (to light key holes in the dark for faster access), a stinger (a small slightly pointy on the tip tool that fits between the fingers and attaches to the key chain. Great for causing bone damage to the face, as well as putting someone’s eye out)
                2) A small container of chemical spray (OC) that fits on my belt.
                3) I also switched from a folder to a fixed blade knife for faster access, Nimravus Cub fixed blade
                4) Cell phone

Depending where I am and what I am doing I may carry my Sig P220-45 (I have a concealed carry permit)

                Home
(I keep my firearms locked up, I have curious kids), (however I do practice and time myself on rapid acquisition of them for emergencies)

                1) Bed side 2 eskrima sticks, and a Kabar knife
                2) Another fixed blade in my office desk drawer.

Also do you put a 4 side rail on the front of the rifle and mount, IR illuminators, flashlights, lasars, and a front hand rail? Also do you preferr the A2 style sight or a reddot illuminator or does it depend on the sitituation.

I've used reddots, and iron sights and i prefer the iron sights but i see alot of pictures of troops with reddots.

For all of those of you unfamilar with the AR15-A2 (not to be confused with the M16A2) hear's a link: http://www.colt.com/law/ar15a2.asp

Oh yeah in response to your new style i posted a sarcastic post about my women's self-defense classes which was deleted by a mod.
The AR15s we use for work do have Scopes, we generally use aimpoint compM2 and Trijicon TA01NSN ACOG 4x32 scope. We also use side-mounted rails for tactical illuminators, but no bottom rails or handles.

My personal AR15s (A2s) I have a commando version with a TGS PVS14 red dot scope and streamlight m3 illuminator with collapsible stock. The other is just a standard match rifle with no post factory gadgets.

                          • intersting post.

most people fail to see the "martial" in martial art (which means war like) and for get that firearms are part of the martial equation.

though obviously you don't attack a firearm weilding opponent (unless its a very goooooooooooooooooooood reason) it does not render the other combative arts useless. there's just a bigger context to think about other than chi, pressure points and stuff.

True! Just because you know the use of weapons whether it is sticks, knives, guns, or etc doesn’t mean there isn’t a need for empty hand knowledge.

You need to take into account use of force issues. Just because you have a gun and somebody pushes you, it doesn't mean you can shoot him. However for someone who is serious about defending himself and his family then all parts of the use of force latter needs to be explored and trained in. From on-lethal to lethal.

                              Knowledge should be in:
                              1) empty hands
                              2) All ranges from weapons range to ground fighting
                              3) Non-lethal weapons- cell phone, chemical sprays, stun guns, etc
                              4) impact weapons- sticks, clubs, or batons, as well as hasty weapons like chars, bats, pool cues, etc
                              5) lethal weapons such as edged weapons, and firearms

If you are not looking at the whole picture and training to deal with sudden violent confrontations that can rapidly escalate to deadly force then you are not really training in self defense even if you think you are. Training in most traditional arts for self-defense is just wishful thinking.

                              • Nice, my favorite gun is the SKS Siminov, yes the "Bouncing Betty" that the VC used, because it's so much better than the M1 Garand and I like semi-automatic rifles.

Anyway, if some novice brawler pulled a knife on me I'd block his attack and then put him in a wrist lock. If I had multiple knife attackers I'd grab the nearest staff like weapon I could find, and if I couldn't find one, I'd block their attacks with the sole of my shoe, and my primary concern would be to get more reach.
