The Lee Estate - Linda, Shannon and a team of lawyers, filed a lawsuit against Guro Dan Inosanto and the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts. The sole purpose of that lawsuit was to prevent Guro Inosanto using the names Jun Fan and Jeet Kune Do in any commericial context, and also removing his right to use the JKD symbol. After a lengthy court case, which stripped Guro Inosanto of his financial stability, built up from 30 years of tirelessly promoting the art of Linda Lee's husband, Shannon Lee's father, and the Estate's paycheck, the case ruled in favour of the Lee Estate. Guro Inosanto has since been unable to use the name Jun Fan or Jeet Kune Do in any commercial context, and has to now use the term "The Martial Legacy - The Intercepting Way".

When I was training at the Inosanto Academy in 2002, Guro Dan showed me a letter from Linda Lee, written several years before. It was a letter written on behalf of the Lee family, thanking Guro Inosanto for three decades of devotion to the art of his good friend and teacher. The letter went on to say that he was always the man Bruce wanted to continue his teachings, and that he has done a wonderful job in maintaining the legacy of her late husband.
A few years later, she took him to court. Not only did she strip him of the right to teach his best friend's art, she also took away his family's financial security. What changed in those few years? I'm guessing it was green and had a president's face on it.
Jeet Kune Do can fall off the face of the planet as far as I'm concerned. I teach Inosanto Martial Arts, and am proud to do so. There is so much written on here about what Bruce Lee would and wouldn't have wanted. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have wanted his family to **** his best friend over for a few extra quid. But hey - when was the last time you went to a Shannon Lee seminar?
