How tough was Bruce Lee?

Bruce Lee at his time was ground breaking many areas of Martial arts Philosophy and film. he also was very fit and accomplished a lot in a short time. What would he have accomplished if he was around for another 20 years?

two comments, Bruce loses to Oyama
First, leads do not normally even matter in a street fight. You usually have to react to a surprise attack with no time to assume a stance. You may be in an awkward position like being "on the throne" in a public john (insert Senator Craig joke here...)
In terms of your general point, perhaps mt and bbj
is the challenge of 21st century jkd, to maintain the integrity of the right lead against muay thai. Many mma guys lead strong side forward, because the shot in wrestling usually is done off the power side.
Second, I don't buy the idea any man of Mr. Lee's size, no matter how good, could have beaten Oyama. That said, not everyone believes the myth of Oyama, either. His 270-0 record and his claims to invincibility has been challenged by many writers. I will buy the fact that he knocked out Black Cobra, the heavyweight muay thai champion. Even though the best thai fighters were/are
in 120 or 125 pound range, it was still quite an accomplishment to beat a thai champ under thai rules. Thai boxers destroyed most of the karate and kung-fu stylists who faced them. For that, at least, the godhand deserves sacred respect. But do not believe everything you read. I am suspicious of anything like Ricson Gracie's claim to a 400-0 record.
Like Liddell, anyone can lose a fight.

lead right leaves your powerful right leg open to low kicks.
its a bad method, unless you are only punching then it makes some sense. if kicking is involved its vastly inferior.
anyone that sparres hard against a thai boxer will just KNOW that.
also, switch hitting is fine as long as you disguise it. simply alternating stance is only going to confuse a complete novice.

the value of jkd
JKD is something beyond the personality of Bruce Lee. It is not grafted onto Bruce's ass. I think that is something to remember. TKD is now separate from the personality of Choi, just as kyokushin continues with Oyama gone.
JKD is now beyond Bruce; it is only as good as modern practitioners.
I messed up my right shoulder doing rack shrugs last Feb. and it still has not healed. Since my right side is still more coordinated, but the left is now stronger, I want to use my right hand and leg for defense and my left hand and leg for offense. So I am going back to the right lead. Bruce did more than anyone else in developing the right lead. And I don't care if Bruce lost a "challenge match" to Cheech Marin! Ring arts are usually predicated on weak side forward. Asian arts like taekwondo and wing chun want you to switch-hit. I neither want to switch-hit or go orthodox, I want to lead right
so my crocop-like left power kick can be sent hard to an unconditioned, weak thigh. Bruce was the innovator in teaching the right lead, although some boxers Like Oscar De La Hoya use strong side forward.

Before anyone gets bent out of shape at this thread, note that it's a bumped thread from 2004 and the offending party seems to be long gone.

Since Nick Diaz just tested positive for weed, was tested after the fight I highly doubt that MMA folks are taking coke before a fight. Now the thing with MMA is that its still a sport with rules. Could BL adapt his technique for that sport sure...... in a fight between a good MMA guy and a black belt in the street its anyones guess but i would lean towards the black belt because they train for real life street encounters, not a sport. Now many of the MMA best fighters started in karate or BJJ dojos. BJJ isnt MMA, Karate isnt MMA, but both build the solid foundations for the student to participate. I see fights all the time that have 2 strikers fighting each other and some fights its the ground guys so they prefer takedowns. MMA is just a set of rules thats all, nothing else.Every style has weakness, for example BJJ and stand up, Karate the ground game, and its up to you the student to be smart enough to see holes in your "game" and fill them in accordingly.

obviously there have been a lot of positive test for "supplements" in the mma world. And yes, fighters have been known to take recreational drugs. I once trained a boxer who decided meth was a great way to make weight...WHAT A MORON! I know dozens of mma fighters. None that I know of are gay. Some are pretty damn close friends.....
There are certainly gay people in mma, just as their are in Football, Baseball, boxing and jazz dance (damn are there gay people in jazz dance). 70% is a pretty much unsupportable bit of conjecture.

Mas Oyama vs Bruce lee..Who would win
I have been reading and studying on this Martial artist named Mas Oyama. The thing that caught my eye was his reputation. He went to many tournaments of martial arts. And none of his fights lasted more than a few minutes. Usually only one punch would take down his opponent. Its said " If you blocked his punch, your arm would brake or be dislocated. If you didn't your rib would be broken. He got a name for himself called Godhand. He killed a man once, in selfdefence.. With only one punch. And thats not even the beginning. He wanted to test his strength. So he was pitted against 52 bulls. A few of them went out with one single punch. The rest of them he ripped there horns off. Although he had been gored in the back near the end. Oh, and why haven't you heard of this guy. He has said, that he didn't want fame. That he didn't care to be known through out the world. But he sounds to me, that he had immensive skill in martial arts and effective training. He opened a dojo but half the students would quit do to his intense training. So now I ask you..
This guy sounds like match for Bruce lee. Does anyone think he could take bruce lee?

You posted the above last week and still haven't answered. Shut your pie hole troll, and name the names.Want me to start listing names of MMA top guys that can verify each of those things - drugs illegal are used / steroids are used /homosexuality is widespread??? Not a problem to do.

Check The Facts!
As I said research the facts yourselves, talk to people in the know for the truth.
And no, I am certainly not gay; anymore than I am a drug taker, but I can say with certainty these these things are true.
Again research it factually for yourselves, dont just be an armchair MMA enthusiast, sitting at home offering opinions - talk to top MMA fighters (you can email some for free, just look at their websites), ask top promoters, etc. I have spoken with many, which is why I can say with certainty that these things are unequivocally true.

Im confused. so what is being said is that when your fighting, wrestling or whatever in a match the gay guy pulls down your pants and rapes you in front of your class or the audience on the mat??
Or does he rape you through your pants with out acctually taking them off? Like does he just rip a hole in them with his penis and goes to town??
Maybe you just got raped by some 200lb mma guy, but it was on a date not during a match ... . . and now your bitter.
Ok but, to be a little more serious and political and slightly off topic. Since when does being gay make you a sex fiend?? Why is it that a gay guy wants to molest and rape men, but a straight guy( ok, to be fair, most) dont rape and molest women?
If I was sparing with a woman and we started to grapple, I wouldnt try to molest her or rape her . . .. Id I dunno . .. . . spar . . .
conclusion, maybe you are just a biggot or a troll or both.

Warrior Dude, either provide the source of your statistics or stop walking on your hands and talking out your ass. You said the same dumb crap over and over with no proof other than your personal experience.
These guys have to be tested by the boxing commission in the states where these fights are held. I'm talking about the UFC, I'm sure some of the smaller organizations my not be held to the same standards. Ask Tim Silvia if they test for 'roids, he lost his belt because of it. Does that mean they catch everyone that's dirty, and everyone fighting is clean? Of course not, there are ways around anything but I doubt steroid use is at the level you describe.
As for the homosexual thing, I'm a little concerned about your focus on that. If your gay, dude that's fine it's your business. No reason to try to talk about stupid statistics though. My guess is that the only place you will find a gay population of 70%+ is in gay bars, and maybe at the opera
We have hijacked the thread starters orignal post with this stupid crap, so either provide some statistics from a real source or shut the hell up and drop it. Everyone understands you are only trying to argue for the sake of arguing. Nobody believes you.
