UFC barely had any rules though. biting and eye gouging not allowed.

Bruce was extremely tough and I doubt even fighters today had his ability, much less his overall stength and conditioning. Regardless, he would never have been in the UFC. Bruce thought it was stupid to have conditions on fighting: you can't do this, this isn't allowed. In real fighting, there are no rules. I think he would have been the biggest fan to see what was working and what was a huge waste of time, but he hated fighting just for show and never did the tournament scene ever. He did freely admit that his size would be a serious factor in any fight which is why he emphasized cardio and speed (as well as accuracy). He often joked that given Muhammad Ali's hand size, he'd be a smudge on the floor if Ali hit him.

He would have been 150 ilbs of lean muscle not 130 and he wouldnt have lost any speed or power.
I beleive Bruce would have revelled in having all these new cross training avenues open and would certainly have been a world champion in MMA.

he probably would have had a short distinguished career in MMA while he concentrated on writing and directing movies.

A career similar to Bas Ruttens or Royce and Rickson Gracie in UFC/Pride where he got in made his point and got out
Anyone wanna bet that he would have been at UFC 1?

Bruce Lee was a human being with human flaws.
Strongly agree. Like all of us.
respect-by-default caricature of the "Wise and Sage Master" you're trying to paint.
Actually I was trying to point out another thing...but never mind

There is nothing inpolite about a frank disagreement of someone's view. This is a forum of debate, I'm not here to wrap my opinions up in cotton wool.

Showing respect is not what you wrote in your post, you wrote that only good must be spoken of the dead. The two are completely different statements, so don't try to retrofit your context to prove a point.

And so, please do share your experiences of all your personal meetings with Bruce Lee....

Thank you for being so polite. No further comment needed.
So according to your philosophy, the history books would show that mankind has led a perfect existence?
No. According to my philosophy for a master of that rank that has passed away show respect first.
I'm sure he'd have no problem with open minded discussion beyond his years.
Yes I am sure you known him so well by so many personal meetings with him

So according to your philosophy, the history books would show that mankind has led a perfect existence? Odd, considering how fucked up the world is.

A balanced, unbias view of every individuals strengths and weaknesses is how you learn from the example of others, good and bad. Bruce Lee was the first to criticize the beliefs and teachings of martial artists that went before him, and hated the practice of blind devotion. If the man had something to say, he said it. I'm sure he'd have no problem with open minded discussion beyond his years.

I think you just got to look at the guys stats, strength, speed (both physical, neuro) and his experience in street fighting. Nobody was training like he did back in the 70's, you look at the UFC champs and their regimes they are only nearing Lee's, he was way ahead of his time.
