No, it's not. The defeatist attitude and "defensive" mindset of so called Martial artists really pisses me off!

That 200+ lb guy on steroids ( PCP, crack head or desperate heroin junkie bent on man rape) is the guy you should be training to fight or kill.

In that light I think there are all kinds of things one could do to escape or avoid the steroid guy. First thing that comes to mind is "How did a guy so big sneak up and get that close in the first place? Am I asleep or what?

    sheesh...

    Serious Matter

It is not remotely funny , as this person talking of a 'hand on hip male meat slip ' hold or whatever, that is being very childish & immature; if some 200 pound + guy on steroids tried to take you from behind there is probavly not a lot most could do about it & therefore not a laughing matter at all. What I am saying is true, nobody here has posted anything to the contrary. Notice too that MMA athletes have conviently ignored this post, as they know the truth of it.

    Anyway please answer :-

    1) Do you deny steroid use is widespread in MMA circles?

    2) Do you deny illegal drugs like cocaine, speed etc are used a lot in MMA circles, incl. before fights?

    3) Do you deny homosexuality is rife & widespread in MMA circles?

Anyone denying any of those 3 is clearly very naive indeed, or in denial. Any MMA athlete especially professional or promoter actively involved in the sport will tell you unequivically these things are indeed going on. Ask anyone on this forum actively involved in MMA on this forum , not an 'armchair enthusiast'.

Dude, you keep talking about all of these statistics, but where are you getting them?

If there is a an article or web page that you can direct us to, please do so.

If your knowledge is form personal experience keep this in mind: THE HANDS ON HIP MAN MEAT SLIP hold is not real, don't go to that school any more. It's a trick. Leave the martial arts. Take up running. Find a new hobby. Sell Avon, just stay the hell away from that school. Please let everyone know the school you go to so we can stay the hell away to.

If your training partner intoduces himself by saying "boy, you sure do have a pretty mouth" RUN!!!! Don't go back. Just trying to help you out dude.

There are also alot of guys that are straight and don't take drugs! Some of us "armchair" types were mixing Martial arts before there was a term for it. That there are all kinds of vile appetites in the world can not be denied... So what.

As for the idiot referring to me as a troll or whatever, I am certainly not anything of the sort. I am making valid legitimate points that are true, as I know many in MMA circles that can verify them. If they are not true, I see no evidence coming from anyone in this forum except childish and immature - 'we dont believe you' type comments. Name one top MMA guy that will deny those facts, name just one? There arent any, just like in bodybuilding nobody can seriously deny drug usage e.g. steroids is not widespread, how could they it is said to be impossible to win a Mr or Ms Olympia without taking them!
You've got me pinned. I am 4'9" and 229 lbs. I have never studied martial arts, or trained in MMA for that matter and don't talk to anyone involved in MMA. Oh yeah, I can run a mile in about 2 hours flat

I'm not the original idiot referring to you as a troll, but yes, you are a troll.

Want me to start listing names of MMA top guys that can verify each of those things - drugs illegal are used / steroids are used /homosexuality is widespread??? Not a problem to do.
Yes, please enthrall us with the names.

Bruce Lee took cannabis occasionally but no other illegal drugs; only after consulting his doctor, who advised it would not harm his fitness or health.

Bruce did not take steroids, contrary to what imbeciles like Tom Bleeker , etc ('Unsettled Matters' book, etc) claim. Taking illegal steroids designed specifically for muscle growth, is completely different and opposed to taking medication for a bad back. If medication to relieve back problems whether steroids or normal medication really helped develop muscles, EVERY BODYBUILDER & MMA IN TOWN WOULD BE GOING TO THE DOCTOR WITH BACK PROBLEMS TO GET SOME FREE! Bleeker, etc do it to sell there tacky books and stories - it works but it sure isnt true.

Bruce was definitely not homosexual! Nobody has ever asserted otherwise.

    ON THE CONTRARY :-

Illegal drugs are used often in MMA circles. Many fighters take them before a fight to boost their performance. Some take mixtures of cocaine/speed to dull the pain and improve alertness/ speed during a fight. Many leading fighters have taken them, others who havent will testify that their use is widespread by competitive MMA's.

Steroids again widespread in MMA circles - FACT! look at the physiques of some for a start. Many take them not only for competitive edge in fights, but also for increased agression and inability to feel pain. As widespread as in bodybuilding.

Homosexuality - rife & widespread in MMA circles recent statistics indicated 70% of male MMA are homosexual or bisexual. Some are married who have relations with other male athletes without their wives knowing. Also fact that many gay MMA like grappling because it involves close contact with other sweaty males & has the added thrill of danger , of being hit and hurt.
    Trollerific.

Why don't you give this a rest?

No one believes you, and using rediculous language like "recent statistics" doesn't help your cause.

You're absolutely correct about the importance of timing, no doubt Lee's timing was awesome and his reaction time superb. He used stop hits, fakes and feints well; didn't hurt that his hand speed was lightning quick, footwork impeccable and body power was great for his size.

Strength and speed are not total garbage though. What good is timing if you've got slug speed, telegraphed or predictable motion and no strength?

If you compare his grappling to someone like Matt Furey or BJ Penn, I totally agree. Using Lee's standards yesterday compared to today's, his grappling is weak. Labelle is also a legend in grappling and had a high dan grade black belt in Judo by the 1950's. Labelle can still kick @ss. He choked out Steven Segal in a challenge that Segal could effectively escape from any chokehold

Its too bad there's no senior class NHB, cause I think Labelle would be on top.

I think this is the thounsandth thread about Bruce Lee. From now on, any new posts about Bruce Lee should either be as a short reference to something else or sent to Siberia, worse Uranus.

As Pendekar de Thouars says "Strength is garbage. Speed is garbage. Timing is everything."

By today's standards his grappling was weak. His strength was in his humility. After Lebelle trounced him on the Kano set he started studying Judo.

Wardancer>>>He would do well in modern MMA.
Because he must have been the first dude to tell people to cross train and not stick with a single MA forever.

I beg to differ. There are numerous examples of mixed or composite systems. It is commonly known that Bruce was weak in the grappling range. His popularity as a movie star helped launch a rebirth of interest in MA. For that he will be remembered.
