I've been sparring for a while and I use high kicks alot. I have found that the key is speed (duh). A good way to increase speed is plyometric exercises and a lot of concentration kicks. ( I don't know what you call them, but i mean kicks where you perform them slowly and then hold them for a while.) They make your legs stronger. And as somebody mentioned in this topic, setting up your kicks is the only way you'll ever really score with high kicks.
