I figured that because you don't have any info listed, maybe you were embarrased or something. I train at jkd unlimited under Burton Richardson. The websight is www.jkdunlimited.com, check it out. The invite still stands.

Actually, I only train in one style right now, so bad assumption on your part And it's relatively easy to get someone in that position. After you throw someone to the ground face first, it's easy to step over them, grab their neck, then proceed to lock them up. It's nothing fancy, just old catch-as-catch-can wrestling, but it is effective.

        Point of view!

Hey, Koto_ryu, I think that comment came from someone just starting their first art, don't you remember, they know everything!

Besides that fact it sounds like you were giving out horsy rides before he made u. If you could enlighten me as to exactly what move you were trying to accomplish to allow yourself to end up on all 4s with a guy straddling you I may be able to offer some advice on how to avoid this predicament in future. Im not cocky im just self assured.
Simple. You stomp on the guy's hand with one foot and shift the other leg back some so his arm is pressed up against his body at the elbow. You have that point locked up now so all he can do is flail about his arm. We were practicing takedowns and submissions on each other and he used an arm drag to get behind me, shot his left arm around my waist, right under my crotch, locked hands, and piledrived me into the mat (which does not tickle) then he stepped over to me, locked me up, and put me in a camel clutch.

It's a valid submission move used many times throughout history: the old carnival wrestlers ("hookers") had it in their repertoire and a few wrestling scenes painted on ancient Greek vases have the exact same move. Wrestling's been around for quite some time, and there's lots of finishing holds people that are simple yet brutally effective. An old testimonial from feudal England had two knights who were fighting with lances and got knocked off their horses. The two ended up in a wrestling match and the winner castrated his opponent with his bare hands. No real technique involved there, just grab and yank Just because it wasn't schemed up by a little Japanese guy or a Brazilian with a funny haircut doesn't mean it's useless

Yeah, grapevines are no fun when you're caught in em A good old surfboard can bring a grown man to tears as well when you do it right. Feels like your chest and shoulders are being torn in half

                    Yup!

once your back is cranked, it's hard to pop out and roll. Most people don't have the strenth in there arms thatit takes to bridge from it, and without that, a gramby roll is imposible.

He's in for a real suprise, especially if he checks out the websight and learns that BJ Penn, Rigan Machado, Chaburo Varisimo, And Egan Inoue are his grappling partners. Hawaii has been voted the best place in the world for ma's the last 12 years in a row, from every major mag. and it's the 2nd best for bjj-submission wrestling-vale tudo, right behind brazil.

I met Egan's brother Enson once when I was stationed at Camp Schwab for a time, he's a helluva nice guy. Gave me some encouraging words at one of my kickboxing matches, kept me motivated for months Yeah, Burton's the real deal, he has a lot of respect in my book. I have dozens of his articles taken from magazines and filed away due to its contents. I like how the man thinks

I couldn't believe that I have the oppertunity to train at his school. When I found out I was moving to Hawaii (pcs move) I did a web search to see what schools were in the area. I made a list of 5 with the intention of checking them all out, with Burton's being #1. I still haven't been anywhere else. I have never met anyone at his level with no ego or attitude at all before. And I found it really funny that with this being my first non-traditional jkd school, I didn't get the empty your cup so we can fill it up line, that I've gotten at almost every other place I've been. Burton allows his students the freedom to experiment with techniques and add modifications or leave things out of drills that don't work for you. I was expecting to be right in line with what the class was doing (really small, usually 6-10 people) but every class I see, there's something brand new and I find myself thinking, man, why didn't I think of that before.
