BJJ - You can't choke someone on teh wrestling mat that;s what I mean. They are probably using a front headlock not a guiillitinte.

    Anyway, good luck!!

Who cares if the moves aren't allowed, it'll show that i won't be taking shit form nobody
You are the type of guy we used to have fun with in highschool. BJJ will help you but wont make you invincible against the guys who have been doing it for a couple of years. Plus we had a few methods of humbling newcomers who have big heads so don't pull that kind of crap. You will not make the team and you won't get any respect for it.

So, your plan is to lose and get your ass kicked? Good plan.

BJJ .. if you are in the guard you are on your back...that's called a defensive pin...you loose. The objective of folkstyle (h.s.) wreslting is to pin your oponents back on the mat (actually scapula). So for wrestling unlearn some aspects of BJJ. shooting, take downs, headlocks, liited throws are fine. Submissions are generally illegal and not only do you run the risk of beging kicked out of the wrestling program for trying to guilletine or cross armbar your opponent...you could seriously run the risk of getting your ass kicked by trying to act cool.

You have to things goining for you: 1 conditioning..period are 2-2-3 and 2. like you said you are used to the ground.

Don't worry about being a starter, just have a plan. Do the best you can...roll with e guys for a month or two and then wrestle-off (challenge) the starting person and show everyone how tough you are that way......then everyone will be like ooooooooooohhh.....AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH we are not worthy Oh, is this varsity, JV or freshman

and when you master those spinning drill your BJJ will become more interesting

if this is your first year in wrestling you won't stand a chance
This is my first year of wrestling but is not the start of my grappling career. So my plan is to use the guard and grapple with them like anyone else. Then when the moment is right, submission hold. Who cares if the moves aren't allowed, it'll show that i won't be taking shit form nobody
Oh and btw, is the guard allowed in wrestling?

Those guys must have been pretty awful
Yeah they weren't too bright I suppose to fall for that. I also remember being able to jam my fingers into their ribs too. It would stunn them a bit if not loosen their grip at times but it didn't always work against the real stalky guys.

Practice as much as u can before the tryouts. When it comes time to compete you should be very confident in winning, regardless of how much or how little you practiced in preparing.

Then you'll really get your ass kicked. Just do your best. Show some athleticism and stay off your back.
