So Royce Gracie is human after all, big surprise. The only surefire way not to get beat is not to fight.

Whoa. I hope ol' boar boy had his computer covered in plastic before he got the results.

                        • I stayed up until 2am to watch this fight and I was very happy with the result. I like Royce and I study BJJ (among other things) but it is time everyone stopped thinking it is invincible. This fight ended the argument for good.

Everyone is talking about why Royce didn't do this or that, blah blah blah... If someone is totally dominating you you look like a beginner. That is because nothing you do works.

As for the age excuse, tell that to Randy C.

                          Overall, a good outcome.

                          • Can anybody explain to me why Royce's MMA record was stated to be 11-0, are we now all of a sudden no longer counting the fights outside the UFC?

                            • Just taking the time to respond to all of these threads...

Hehe, hughes won... stupid fricking kids and their Gracie Nuthugging.

The best part is I prefer BJJ/Judo to wrestling/sub wrestling, but man... who didnt know this was going to happen.

I'd also like to comment that I thought Matt would finish the fight with a kimura/straight armbar before the fight even started. I predicted it to my friends before the ppv even started. It happens alot, people I have more Jiu Jitsu skill in, but they have more buffet skill (100 pounds heavier, 70 pounds heavier), will come in, get side control or half gaurd, usually half gaurd, and just grab your arm, pin it to the mat and put you in that submission. I hate rolling with these people because its all they ever go for, I can defend it if I have to/want to, but I've hurt my shoulders doing that, so screw them.

With that said, when he did finish the fight, holy shit those were bombs he was throwing from the top, over and under, and he was connecting to, that was a mauling.

No Idea, but I watched the old Royce fights in UFC unleashed the other night and they said he was 74-7 as an ametuer and 38-14 as a pro, or something like that, when they annouced his records.
THey try to blow this thing up to sound like it was this huge match up of past and present. What a joke. If that was the case, they should take a young strong BJJ black belt with little other experience and have him fight Hughes. Royce is hardly the represeative of the old guard being that hes old, or send Shamrock out there at 175lbs and he'd todd Hughes around like a child
