If they (for some reason) let you work out just once or twice a week you will remain nothing but a throwing dummy bitch until you just give up even that.

lilwizard,
I am sure you can get right and will be a great MMA fighter in a few years, joining the wrestling team will get you in shape help you develope explosiviness. It will take 3 months out of the year for your training on the other styles but you can still work on those at home. I really like to think that you may take something like Muay Thai or JKD to help develope your stand up and fighting style. One thing that a lot of MMA fighters do not do right is know how to kick or throw a knee. They are more weapons to add to your arsenal. They help you have more ranges, be more elusive and keep them guessing. Plain boxing is fine, but your short range shots may not have the impact needed because you can not hit them at full distance.
You see the importance of having the training in all area but you must be a complete expert in 1 of them first, good ol'reliable, something to fall back on when you get rocked.
It happens to everyone and only expiriance will give you that, you will get that expiriance in competition. That's the only reason I say get on the wrestling team.
