Kid Lock,
I was none of those guys, and how do you know I have never been stabbed or had my eyes poked?
Do you think I train and fight the way I do for sport or showmanship? No way! I train and fight the way I do because it's the only way. There is no other way. Everything else is sport.
But seriously, my hood is the Rampart District in LA. Did you see Movie Training Day? That's where I live.
What I really like about the movie is how they show Etahn Hawke attempt BJJ against multiple opponents and express that it is not good for multiple opponents because that's the way they do it out here.
Maybe BJJ is good for the high school kids in the rich hood, but you do BJJ here and they are going to laugh. I hate to say it, but it is true.
As for TKD, I don't care too much about it. It's just as pathetic as BJJ for true self defense. They are both sports. One of them uses kicks, the other uses grappling, but both of them are asking to get murdered when facing a killer from my neighbourhood, and believe me, there are way to many of those around here who should be locked up.
As far as what I have studied. It has no name. One day my uncle pulled me aside and said, "I am going to teach you how to kill"
and since then most Martial Arts have become a joke to me.
For BJJ, we fool around with it and have seen how it can be effective. But we are also smart enough to realize that it is good only for one on one fight, when there is a referee and there is no shank.
