Would Bruce Lee win UFC fights had he been still alive and willing to compete?

He was an American born in San Francisco... Just because the guy had Chinese ancestry doesn't mean he was Chinese. I have lots of Asian friends who would get offended if I addressed them as Chinese simply because their parents are from China. American doesn't mean "White." When you get that stereotype out of your head, you'll go somewhere.

As the model minority they'd probably get offended that someone would think they'd get offended and give us a free eggroll. Seriously people shouldn't be so easily offended, sensitive, and quick to whine there was more communication between minorities and whites in the good ol days despite the discrimination. Not saying the discrimination was right but the communication was closer to the ideal, though far from it. Nothing should be off limits to talk about, the more we talk about race issues and make it interesting the better.

This topic is getting old so therefore, I shal start a new controversial topic:
Who would get more chicks in his prime, Bruce Lee or Sean Connery?

I believe Sean Connery would win with his vastly superior 100040000.43 alphabets of charm compared to Bruce Lee's 38 alphabets.

I also believe Bruce would have adapted fast, learned from the best, and soon after become the best at it,

He would have ruled the UFC.

I am sure that being a lightweight, after ruling that divison he would want to test his skills on a heavyweight fighter, he was that type of guy.
However lots of what he knew could not be applied to the sportive combatives

but still..

he would have ruled!

I am Bruce Lee's #1 Student. Let me quantify that. I have ammased a collection of every book, video, magazine, internet material etc etc available on Bruce Lee and am still collecting. But most importantly I have assimilated all of the information and can give you a definative answer to your question posted here.

First of all I think Bruce would be quite happy that anyone even cares as much to talk about him this long after his death. Bruce was far above and beyond martial art. He was a master of thought, and of the peeling away of all things illusionary, and deceptive. If anything he learned the art of taking a matter at hand, stripping it to it's essential components and assimilating the information, in as effecient a way as possible. Bruce was a problem solver.

Now to address a few things first of all Bruce was once asked about what he would do when he was in his 60's... and Bruce answered he would be the best 60 year old around. Bruce was a VERY REALISTIC man. But as it is I think the main topic here is assuming Bruce in his prime which to me was during Return of the Dragon era.

He once was asked what would he give to be 6' and 220 lbs. And he said if I were 6' and 220 lbs he would rule the world. So therefore we KNOW Bruce admitted a major size descrepancy. (A predominate reason his teaching of Chinese Martial Art to Americans was frowned upon. They were concerned that if much larger Americans learned their techniques their advantage would be lost... Which essentially is true)

Lets deal with basic physics. Given equal velositites a larger man's punch carries more force than a smaller man. However do the math. A smaller man's faster punch can be tremendously more devastating than a larger man. Also remember Bruce was absolutely solid muscle and bone. If you were to calculate his lean muscle mass volume compared to many larger men I think it would be close to equal. He did not believe in carrying around any excess fat.

Now back to UFC... first of all in and of itslef once again we are dealing with a SPORT!!! Not fighting!!! Not true "as it is" fighting. And Bruce once said in a real fight he would absolutely annihalate an opponent and rip their guts out. Not to mention probably gougung their eyes out after a sharp snappy kick to the balls. You see Bruce was looking at Martial Art as exaclty that "MARTIAL" What he did in the movies he admitted was artistic and somewhat more flashy than would be a true encounter...for entertainment purposes... altough he did believe strongly in still conveying his ideas through his films. Basically a REAL: fight with Bruce Lee in one which he did not feel he simply out classed an opponent...one in which Bruce felt a true challenge existed...he would focus on a rapid and immediate death to the opponent...but being that Bruce was not a murderer...I believe this to be the primary reason he never would have taken part in UFC.

From a simple technique and fighting standpoint. Bruce was a kicker...An amazing Kicker in that he truly trained his legs to be as much of a weapon as his hands. There have been UFC fighters who could kick...however what normally happens... A UFC fighter throws a half-a$$ kick, many times while going backwards..they either throw it in such a way as they never really intend to kick, or it is so sloppy they get caught by a good grappler with a takedown. Bruce could snap kicks and return to his fighting position blazingly fast..with PURPOSE and INTENTION. NO UFC fighter has even approached His Kicking ability. I think of Vitor Belfort..how we've seen him come out in animalistic fashion wiht his hands and dispatch opponents rapidly. Such is the way we would see a Bruce Lee.

Above all though do you know what we would see from Bruce in a competition as this would be TREMENDOUS ring generalship. It is much more talked about in Boxing. Howere I know Bruce would win most UFC fights because he was a master of dictating where he would want the fight to go. He had the confidnece and animalistic "It's you or me" attitude..and simply would win..or die.

Anyways people can say what they will..good or bad about Bruce but when EVERY person he touched personally in life has nothing but good things to say about him...THAT says something. Bruce was a kind man, a generous man. Overly generous. In an effort to give to his people, his family, his art, his audience, his students, his friends.... he just forgot to step back and take care of Bruce first.

I never knew Bruce Lee... but I feel like his friend....and miss him everyday.

One chatter box to another - Oddly enough, a better indicator of what Lee would’ve done over the last 30 years, had he lived / would be doing today, is Clint Eastwood. Lee was a huge admirer of what Clint had been able to do for himself via the “Spaghetti Western,” and hoped to do the same for via “Chop Socky Flicks.” Make himself a huge star (The Big Boss and Fist of Fury), go into directing his own vehicles (Way of the Dragon and Game of Death) and spread the wonder of both his beloved Chinese culture throughout the world, as well as to explore other elements of the human condition through film.

So that, today, we’d perhaps see in Lee a combination of Directors, Clint Eastwood and Ang Lee. Eastwood’s emergence as a gifted director and Ang Lee’s artistry. Eastwood, like Lee, was not respected for his “acting ability” either. And with Lee’s JKD mentality – “you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup” - with his passion for film, I believe, he would’ve emerged a great director, as well.

Today, he’d probably have an impressive body of films, covering various themes, not just martial arts – just like Eastwood.

Films on the scale of an "Internal Affiairs," (Recently re-made as "The Departed") and a “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," (but without the wire-work.) For, with all due respect to legendary Hong Kong choreographer, Yuen Wo-Ping, and of course, the great Jackie Chan’s astounding stunts, Lee, would’ve remained away from “wire-work.” Due to his awesome martial abilities, to his intensive study of film, to his “Hollywood” experience of filmmaking, and most importantly, to both his absolute genius at presenting himself as an awesome martial artist, as well as his drive for what he called “truth through theatrical Jeet Kune Do” (as compared to his just as passionate commitment to the reality of combat through what he called Functional Jeet Kune Do).

In short, though Lee once predicted a time wherein a combative sport along the lines of a UFC, would be popular, though most who personally knew him, were wowed by his astounding no-holds martial abilities. Though (Dan) Inosanto to this day claims he has yet to meet anyone as fast, as multi-faceted a martial artist, as Lee, in spite of Inosanto’s own “running with” all types of highly respected martial arts greats, these last 30 years, Lee nevertheless chose as his own vehicle, to spread his philosophy, etc., the vehicle of filmmaking. Though one of the best martial artists most anyone who ever tangled with him came a way believing (other than the few with an ax to grind), given his absolute commitment to his martial best, he nevertheless became a filmmaker.

Bruce weighed 135, if he trained some more grappling he probably could have been tough under 150 lbs or so.

I don't agree with that at all. Randy didn't have many holes in his game, even at the beginning. Ruas didn't really prove that much in MMA, and he had plenty of chances. Most unimpressive was his running away from Oleg Taktarov for 20 minutes and totally avoiding the fight, and his loss by beatdown from Alexander Otsuka (ok, I know he was sick). It took him forever to deal w/Paul Varelans too, those heel stomps and 500 leg kicks was the long way to do it; Tank, Dan Severn, Mark Kerr, those guys took care of Varelans in about a minute. I think Randy would have destroyed Ruas.

That if bruce fought and lost he'd go nuts and train evevn more and come back and win but he was into grappeling via lebell as you can see in enter the dragon when he takes the guy down and arm bars him in a sna shou match if he were around today he'd be at the forefront probably would be in brazil with the graceies or some other group I wonder how what he would think of the street aplication of mma or rbsd?
