Anyway to change tack a bit I dont do wing chun so im not going to preach its effectiveness/useslessness.When i go to training we pratice hard and full contact. My training partner and I are very interested to make sure what we are doing will work.We are not affraid to get hit because this will increase our pain threshold. When we practice by ourselves we do it in our everyday clothes as we would be in our day to day lives. We even get our mates who dont do MAs to fight with because they are unpredictable and will react as people will on the street.I also fight with my brother because we have an understanding in the world you do get hit and hit hard.So thats wjhat we do hit each other and like we mean it.As for my training partner he does BJJ as well so i have to deal with that perspective as well.I guess what im trying to say is train hard.Get together with your friends and fight. You will love it and your neighbors will think your insane!

You already did preach its effectiveness by saying there is no way a Muay Thai Fighter can win against Wing Chun.
Muay Thai trains in same way you describe yourself training. We too train hitting each other hard as if we mean it,so if Wing Chung can beat us Muay Thai fighters I guess they'll have no problem beating you guys up too right?
Got my point ?

The sun could make you want to move your Gi top from you getting too hot as well does this mean it makes Muay Thai like the sun and better ? Of course not.Besides since when do Muay Thai fighters train with a jacket?
Unlike you guys we don't wear a gi.Know your facts before saying stupid things that makes no sense.
Muay Thai is better because unlike you fuckers we know how to sparr we actually put what we learn to use and I'm not talking about bull shit point sparring,I'm talking about full contact. We don't waist our time doing your shitty katas which do **** all.
Your crappy low stances and fancy little punches will do crap in a real situation. Anyone studying kung fu is better off doing Tae Bo.
Your fancy blocks and punches won't do anything against someone coming full out throwing punches and kicks to you kung fu guys whether the person on street knows martial arts or not.
The reason why you kung fu guys never get into the octagon of UFC,Sabaki or Pride is because you guys don't have the balls to do so and also you don't want to show the world how fast you guys would lose. You kung fu guys wouldn't even last a minute,in fact first few seconds and you guys would be knocked out cold. If you think your shit will work in these competitions then it's wishful thinking, because it would never happen.

Originally posted by guy incognitoYes but you obviusly dont get mine.I used a lot of examples to try not to upset anyone. But the general gist of what i was saying is its pointless argueing about who will win against an expert.A muay thai expert will kick a WC practisioners ass as well.Happy now, no you wont be.I was reading a previous thread about certain styles instilling a false sense of security in their students. It would seem muay thai is the worst. You all think you can kick any and all asses! Now go back and actually read what i wrote. To recap EXPERTS win because thay have an intimate knoledge of a particular art.I wasnt saying WC will beat muay thai.
HA HA HA,Muay Thai the worst for instilling false sense of security in their students!!!!!!!!!!! now that is funny,I hope you 're kidding.
Our sense of security in ourselves is not false look at how many fights muay thai fighters have won compared to any other style. Nine out of ten times Muay Thai fighters win whether you want to believe it or not. That tells me you have no clue what you are talking about.Even in Thailand,I bet anything they will tell you that in real situations Muay Thai fighters win.
The schools that install the most false sense of security are your typical traditional martial arts schools like Karate,Kung Fu,Tkd,Wing Chun etc.who think that all the techniques within their katas and little drills and point sparring will help save their ass on the street. Most of the practitioners of these arts have only sparred point competition because they wouldn't know what to do in full contact. How much of the shit they learn actually works compared to what would work in Muay Thai? From my own experience and many others,I would have to say about 50% of stuff in these traditional arts may work compared to 99% of what would work in Muay Thai.
I know fuckers like you will disagree and have the right too, because no one wants to admit how much their arts sucks? Anyone who has done both karate and Muay Thai know that katas and point sparring done in arts like karate are pointless.
Karate is great as long as you are not expecting to learn self-defense.
I don't know the kung fu terms for these stances only the karate ones, but anyways those little sheko dachi(horse stance),neko dachi(cat stance),sanchin dachi(power stance),zenkutsu dachi(forward stance) will do **** all on street the only thing this does is increase focus, balance, stamina, posture and co-ordination other then that it is useless for self-defense.Why not learn all this stuff while learning self-defense at the same time? It doesn't take these fancy stances to learn to increase your balance,posture,stamina,co-ordination and focus. The whole point of learning martial arts is self-defense if your art doesn't teach it you're wasting your time and money.
You know why arts like Pankration,Shooto, Muay Thai,Judo,Jujitsu,Submission Wrestling,JKD,Boxing etc. win fights? Well let me tell you this much it's not because they do katas, useless little drills or point sparring. They win because they put what they learn to full use, they fight full contact and do not hold back which teaches them to hit hard, how to take hits, kicks and how to handle being thrown, flipped, etc. under pressure and under adrenaline rush.
I don't care how much martial arts teaches you to control your adrenaline rush it can only teach you that to a certain degree in a real situation you would be fighting under adrenaline rush so you better be prepared to know what to do.

I can understand your views on things but when you say shit like that then your obviously just an ass who doesnt know jackshit.
Usually I'm a really nice guy, and i respect just about every martial art out there. I really do like Muay Thai, and hope to learn it someday. But i certainly hope i dont have to learn with or from an ignorant jackass like yourself. Kungfu may seem ineffective but until you fight a master or an instructor you have no right to say the things you have, or until you actually learn Kungfu. In no ways do i mean to say kungfu is the best style or to say muay thai sucks, because thats not true. But kungfu is a good style and it does work.
I am sorry to have insulted you, but I couldnt help it, after reading the bull crap you had just typed.

There are no deep stances in what i do.Its all like walking stand up like what everone used to revert to in sparring when i did TKD.Im not going to have this conversation with you.I have seen muay thai work in the street when youve done it yourself come back and talk.I think you guys just need to learn some modesty.Im not saying my art(Which incidently you know nothing about) is the be all and end all.I remember someone else on this forum saying that mantis has beaten muay thai in the ring though(Note it wasnt me)Your really thai bri arent you.Cut the BS!

I don't believe praying mantis kung fu would win against muay thai in the ring.
No I'm not Thai Bri,although I know the name.In fact Thai Bri and I don't get along on this forum and in many of these threads. We agree with some things but alot of stuff we also disagree with.Thai Bri doesn't like me for whatever reason and I don't give a shit about him either but as long as he leaves me alone I will leave him alone and lately he hasn't bothered me so I'm not about to start any shit with him.
Talking about Thai Bri that reminds me,I haven't seen that guy around in here in a long time.

I have experience in both your typical traditional art like Goju Ryu karate and then an art like Muay Thai and also have grappling experience so I talk from experience and know the difference between bullshit and truth.I think it is stupid when people claim their art can beat Muay Thai.
Now if some grappling style said they could beat submission wrestling I'd say possibly, I wouldn't say it is impossible, because all grappling is good.In a case like that I would agree it depends on the person fighting more then on the style but for stand up fighting I disagree since there are plenty out there that only know their kata and point sparring (kumite) and wouldn't last one round with someone who is use to fighting full contact. No grappling art does kata as far as I know anyways. They all do straight to the point techniques, drills and full contact sparring.

The law of tyranny:
1. Any power that can be abused will be abused
2. Abuse always expands to fill the limits of resistance to it.
3. If people don't resist the abuses of others, they will have no one to resist the abuses of themselves, and tyranny will prevail.
