Surprise, surprise more stupid advice on weapons and SD.

If you have a concealed carry permit, your training load and responsibility just tripled, and for god sake avoid intoxicants!!

Of course I'm sure we're going to hear how this was just more bad advice couched as a joke.

Considering that the average poster here seems horribly unaware of the implications of SD it's a piss poor attitude to give bad advice out for your own entertainment. And the UK's population wonders why they're not allowed weapons? How about because their supposed martial artists (who should know better) give advice like, "You've got your concealed carry permit, now get a beer".

Maybe you ought to read the questions he's given dumbassed and dangerous advice to. People who ask advice clearly need guidance on the subject, if you think someones a kook or a goof, giving stupid advice isn't funny, it's just stupid. Mike has a habit of giving STUPID advice and trying to weasel out when caught, check this classic:

Very few Law Enforcement or Military Organisations allocate any form of real time to train edged weapons, or martial arts for that matter. Any why should they? Its not their job, its a tiny, minute fraction of what their role might involve. They have far more important things to be doing.

Why should LEO and the Military train in the martial arts and edged weapons? Because not doing so will leave you ignorant of their uses and make you more vulnerable to them. You cannot arrest someone (part of the job) without going hands on and making arrest is not a minute fraction of police work (or a soldiers these days). Knowing your enemy and the tools he may use against you while on the job is a basic tenet of warriorship and a key to survival.

They have far more important things to be doing.

Have YOU ever arrested anyone????? I damn sure have and without a functional knowledge of edged weapons use and the martial arts I wouldn't be making this post.

Training to properly do your job and survive is perhaps THE most important focus any officer should have. IF you're a paper pusher or a computer geek then H2H may not be that important but anyone tasked with detaining and arresting potential terrorist (FBI Agents) needs H2H and edged weapon training because its a part of the terrorist toolkit. The FBI allocates time for spiritual training for its field agents, thats FAR less important than proper weapons training IMO.

Quite a few terrorists have been arrested in the USA (you don't get to read about all the ops in the paper for security reasons) and many were LONG before 9-11.

As for cops having guns so not needing to know about knives, well that says so much about your lack of knowledge of SD that I may put in in my sig line to warn others of the expertise from which you speak.

A) You're hung up on the idea that only terrorists carry knives.

B) You're so far out of your field of experience on guns AND knives that you think having a gun is defense for a knife. Maybe you ought to study some of the arts you spend all your time bashing, you might learn just how unprepared for encounters without a ref you really are.

I agree with everything except the 'bully' part. I think he's more likely to have always been the one muttering under his breath about what he "would do to that guy" who "doesn't know my lineage or else he'd be scared." TheoryFu works better that way.
