B) You're so far out of your field of experience on guns AND knives that you think having a gun is defense for a knife. Maybe you ought to study some of the arts you spend all your time bashing, you might learn just how unprepared for encounters without a ref you really are.

whattttttt, i dont think they only carry knives, what is this about terrorists, why is anyone preparing to arrest them like thats the biggest threat.

What makes you think i dont have knife training? i have studied Escrima and spent 6 months in the philippines studying it as well.

Either you're a very slow learner, you didn't pay attention in class or you should demand a refund because anyone with an hour of training should be able to grasp the danger an officer faces when dealing with a suspect who is armed with a knife.

You cant learn to disarm people like that though, it takes years of constant sparring and dedication to have knife defense, it isnt realistic.
We used to spar full contact with training knives, you cant do it. Unarmed vs knife doesnt work well at all.
If you dont have the luxury of loads of training time then its even worse.

The correct course is awareness and some basic technique.

If you'd posted that, it would have been great.

But it was from the same crowd from the UK who have been deemed untrustworthy to own guns or carry knives by their own government and yet they go out of their way to give advice on their use to others.

Yeah, I want advice on guns from people who don't have any, and advice on carrying/using knives from people who can't carry them, that's a great way to get advice like "knives are no worry so long as you have a gun". It strikes me as stupid as getting advice on tooth brushing from people without teeth.

Factual posting about realistic SD issues never gets a welcome response from the "experts" on everything martial here at defend where I have seen people recommend running to get the car and running over their attacker, pushing, suplexs or guns for knife SD. Its interesting several of the people to make those suggestions are posting in this very thread. I think it irritates them someone questions their advice, no matter how bad it is.

Since my posts are ignored, here are the highlights of a study on knives and law enforcement:


1. Because of a prevalent misinterpretation, the 21-Foot Rule has been dangerously corrupted.

2. When properly understood, the 21-Foot Rule is still valid in certain limited circumstances.

3. For many officers and situations, a 21-foot reactionary gap is not sufficient.

4. The weapon that officers often think they can depend on to defeat knife attacks can't be relied upon to protect them in many cases.

5. Training in edged-weapon defense should by no means be abandoned.

So if you've never even seen a gun, why would you assume they were defense for a knife? Perhaps you shouldn't watch so much TV.

What's really absolutely priceless about this is you're always harping about TMA people who aren't prepared for ring art people because of their lack of exposure to the ring, and yet you're recommending a weapon you've never even seen (talk about a lack of exposure) for defense against another weapon.
