They are alot more sticky in chi sao and have a much stronger root. They use their whole body especially Robert Chu. William Cheung just uses his hands. TWC footwork is not economical. There are no pivoting motions which are really usefull in many situations when you dont have time to lift your feet. TWC focuses to much on techniques but doesnt know how to use they whole body. The structures of many of the blocks are also weak in twc.
To go off topic a little, i was just watching Van Damme on TV and came across this question. Y do u think Wing Chun has never been exposed in movies or the media? Karate, Tae Kwon Doe and now Muay Thai r being used in most fighting movies whether they r martial arts or not. These arts are flashy with the feet, but i feel that Wing Chun has some very flashy tech. as well. Also, it is more economical than the other arts. If pple thought Seagal was cool with Aikido, they're definitely going to like WC.
IMO, Martial Arts films r on the decline, besides Jackie Chan's Rush Hour, they aren't overly popular. Jackie Chan and Jet Li's recent box office returns have barely been able to cover prodcution/marketing costs. Li, Chan, and Tony Jaa were mainly praised due to their stunts and acrobatics. Of course Jaa, Chan and Li had good fight scenes, but pple mainyl remeber Jackie Chan for his rooftop balcony jump from Rumble from the Bronx and Tony Jaa for his splits/slide under the jeep and him jumping and running off the shoudlers of his attackers. I think pple need to be introduced to a new martial art. Besides Tony Jaa, (who has done gymnastics), i think pple will be intrigued with WC if it were to be used exclusively in a movie. Wut u think?

Originally posted by TameoI do a combination of different lineages, one of them is Gary Lam the other Robert Chu. I still practice some William Cheung stuff but its mostly just for speed training and fancy stuff, at wrist range. I also do South Mantis (Amazing Teacher), some white lotus kung-fu and some boxing so i dont get thrown off their game. Also some other stuff my sifu is showing me from another system.

How can you throw an effective punch or strike if you cant even stand? none of the guys from my kung-fu school under Sifu joe sayah could stand properly. Now i see that after being humiliated by beginners in another wing chun lineage. No root at all in gm cheung's lineage. He doesn't understand the concept.

I seriously doubt that. BTW you dont even need to know how to fight that well to kill someone so even if he did there is nothing impressive about it. Doent make him a better fighter or matrial artist.

Are you guys talking about the five point death strike as seen on Kill Bill, the one that makes your heart explode before you have taken five steps?
