  • To millie,

I am also interested on how you found out about Shifu Han's book.Who is your Shifu/Instructor? I take it that your club has some affiliation with the Chee Kim Thong School.

As SergeTK has said, the book is not available to others/general public as yet as it has been privately published.

    Thanks

    • Wu zu quan training of muscle tensioning in combination with breathing & sturdy foot work with power generation concentrated at the "tan tien"( below the belly button ) with legs & hips tucked to unleash power to the shoulder & into the fist with quick lighting attack culminating in an explosive strike against its opponents. " KABOOM!

check out Kong Han upgraded website : http://www.konghankungfu.cjb.net/
look for the video link on "sawn hong chiu" ( hurrican hands ).

        • Yes, I know Sifu Han - very nice man and an excellent teacher. One of my training brothers was over in England fairly recently and was honoured with a copy of Mr Han's book. Very well written and produced - top quality.

I asked who the author was because I had also heard that another senior disciple of GM Chee was writing a book on Ngor Chor Kun. Actually, there is already a book published in Malaysia on Ngor Chor Kun written by another of GM Chee's disciples, Ma Chai Soon, but it is not as detailed as Mr Han's book (as Mr Han's book is meant as an instructor's notebook).

I’m interested on how he came up with information inside the book, the fish story isn't easy to find, I’ve only noticed it on my 3rd look.

                • Greetings:

Can't help but pondering some "philosophical" questions.

What do you think make NCK as NCK? I mean, what kind of qualities differentiate NCK from another line of kungfu, especially southern styles as Hong Jia (Hung Gar), etc.?

                  Regards,

                  L.

SergeTk, I think you may have mis-interpreted the question, I was not implying that there are/is any secrets about the book being written . I am just curious who millie's instructor is and if affiliated to our club.

I think he may have been told the fish story by Shizu Chee Kim Thong, not entirely sure (?)

Me personally, i don't know much about other kung fu styles but what I think is that nck masters & teachers have remain loyal to the style & to the founders of nck & at the same time have time & time again prooven the effectiveness of nck both for health & self defense.

NCK masters have also been involve with community building.

Read the Legacy of Dr. Lo Yan Chu a man of martial virtue, founder of Kong Han Athletic Club at http://www.members.shaw.ca/rtouch/ and compare it with other great NCK masters & you'll see similarities as far as getting involve with local community & their success & loyalty to ngo cho kun.

I don't know why I haven't posted on the other forum. Just haven't felt I had anything to contribute to any of the topics I guess.

I heard about the date change. Spoiled the plans for a lot of people planning to go. Unfortunately I won't be able to say whether I am going or not until around October. My teacher wants me to go with him and enter the forms competition, but it will depend on the state of my finances .

I don't think there is anything in the techniques that makes it different - after all, there are only so many ways you can kick, punch, palm etc. I believe the training methods and the philosophy behind the art, as well as the combination of hard and soft power gives NCK its uniqueness.

Well, there are no secrets about the book, but I understand the distribution of the book was to be limited, and mostly within the students of GM Chee. So, if millie is not of the Chee Kim Thong lineage, then someone has been a bit loose with the book
