              • It's funny because almost everyone who does any sort of martial art or any form of fighting is in some form using "chi." But you don't want to admit that because your penis is much to large to be correlated to a bunch of old people who do breathing excercises.

                Idiots.

                  • I imagine that a reiteration of my rationalistic paradigm for the assessment of qi phenomena would help but I don't want to bother writing it out twice. Please refer to the bullet dodging thread for details but in a nutshell it is this: it's all just physiology, bio-mechanics and psychology. There is no magic in qi, it is not the force from Star Wars.

Almost everyone my sweet pasty ass. I train Muay Thai, western boxing, Wing Chun (based primarily on centerline theory and bone mechanics, not chi crap) JKD, Shooto, and the FMA.
No chi crap here, baby, just 100% reality check.

                      • I'm wondering, do you align your back with your foot with your fist into the ground when you punch? Do you hold yourself to the ground with balance when you kick? Then you're using chi there buddy. Sorry to break it to you, but if you aren't then I'd imagine you're probably not a very effective fighter.

                        • that's not chi.
That is called leverage. Nothing mystical about shifting your body-weight.
On every punch, I move my hips, my feet to some extent, and my shoulders and arms...this is not chi, or ki, or anything odd like that, just good old common sense body mechanics.

                          • Garland, how does your wingchun training mingle with the rest of your stand up work?

I've never studied the art, but am curious as to its effectiveness in closing the gap to the clinch range and its hand techniques.

Seems like wingchun stance and set up teaches fighters to hit on the move, which is not easy for stand up fighters to develop. That combined with boxing and you'd be all over the other guy.

Now who do we know who mixed Wing Chun with Boxing?

                              • True.

But Lee had a lot of time to really mix and mingle the arts. Just thought I'd see if someone else was able to get the same effect.
