Hi to everybody,
this subject was brought to my attention by a friend of mine and I want to say something about my experiences with Greg Allend. I first met Greg in 1995, then the teacher of my first Kali instructor Uli Weidle (now Kali Pekiti Tirsia directly under Tuhon Leo T. Gaje), and got to know him as a very friendly and giving person. He never hesitated showing me his art without any reservation and was the first to introduce me to the principal of non-cooperative training/drills. He for sure has good skill and I´m still amazed by his abilities when I have the opportunity to train with him from timt to time, even so I´m not practicing his system anymore. I also want to bring to your attention, that Greg introduced quite some of his students and peers to his teacher. All this in full knowledge, that he would finally lose these students and not even be given credit for paving their way. This, to be, is not a sign of a selfish person or of bad character.
Be well,

Guro Gould,
I recant for what I had written earlier about your statements addressed to VT3 and I apologize to you for that. I didn't mean to start any situation between you and VT3.
VT3, Why do you want to fight with David Tanner? Since it is now that you backed off of your original challenge to Greg Alland. Originally you had mentioned that it was concerning Pekiti Tirsia, that being your reason for the challenge to Greg Alland.
So what is your reason for the challenge to David Tanner? Is it because he is associated with Greg Alland? Is not Guro Dave Gould, Michael Olive and B.T.E. also associated with Greg Alland?
This is puzzling as we are trying to understand your motives?

You challenge these guys and you expect them to pay you? I am not sure but I don’t think it works that way. Now maybe you might want to put $2,000 of your own money up and they will match it, winner takes all.
How about that, put your money where your mouth is.

YeaHh! Listen up -This dudes all talk! Calls himself "Mad Dog...somethin" Wants us to shell out two Grand and travelling expenses. For what? I ask. I can tell a bum from the real deal.
If we want Tanner to kick someones ass that bad, we wouldn't need to pay out that lump sum of cash. We can find bums like this guy at any bar or trailer park. So Don't even take this Goofball serious at all.

Greetings
Hello All
I was browsing through martial arts sites and found this forum through a Google search. How bad could the video tapes mentioned be to have stirred such emotions?
To hear such controversial comments and glimpses into behind the scenes drama, This is all very interesting.
I have never heard of Greg Alland, but he must walk in some sort of charisma to attact such an eclectic array of postings.

Just to get some inside info for myself I wrote to guro William McGrath and asked his opinion of training at Greg Allands seminar. This is what he wrote concerning Greg Alland.
"I would train with a different instructor, even if it meant having to train in another art."

Peace and freindship
All of the controversy around Greg Alland and the exchanges on here about fighting. This is not the direction of what the martial arts should represent. Please see my website. The primary interest of the Martial Arts for Peace Association is to bring about an understanding of the Martial Arts as a beneficial endeavor people can practice for health and well-being. The current publicized image of the Martial Arts as a violent, military discipline is not a true representation of what is, in essence, a means through which one can come to understand and creatively deal with conflict. The Martial Arts can give the student the opportunity to understand himself. In understanding oneself the student comes in direct contact with the origin of conflict, the foundation of violence. This confrontation with oneself is the primary reason why serious people study the Martial Arts.

1 : of, relating to, or suited for war or a warrior
2 : relating to an army or to military life
3 : experienced in or inclined to war : warlike
What definition should we be using? Should the term martial be defined as "creative conflict resolution?"
