thing is that BJJers don't really cross-train in wrestling and wrestlers always do some kindo of BJJ cross-training, wether it is with a instructor, videos, books, ....

I asked them, ‘Why do I have to fight him, what happened?’ They said, ‘We know how good you are and we know how Rickson Gracie is, and we want to know whose going to win.’ Well I say, ‘that’s a good question I would love to know too because Rickson is a tough guy.’ I don’t want to say I’m a tough guy or not, but I would love to, only if there’s good money. i have seen high school wretlers kill bjj guys at the same level, why? cause they didnt play the ground game, a bjj bluebelt usually will not be able to takedown a high school wrestler, if they are both 18 yrs old, and no prior experience, the bjj guy will jump guard, to avoid getting slammed, just as a 30 yr old bjj guy rarely stops a 30 yr old wrestler from the takedown,
all this is relative bullshit anyway, i love grappling, it has its place, but on the street, someoen will stab your ass, i have been cut, why? cause i thought training in the school, was what would happen on the street, wrong!

these artguments are mute, there is, and never will be a superior style, thats better than the rest. each art has its place, and its strong point. chinese arts are weak because of culture, how very few people know the real shit, and how even less will teach it. i have seen real cma, and in no way is it whats commonly available here.
there are great grappling, greco and bjj available everywhere, and they wont hold back techniques, ecept some gracies, ha ha. but for the most part, its available.
many people are carrying small concealed weapons, because of the ufc, and young grapplers pretending they are in braziland looking for trouble.
agin these arguments have no answer, experience is what leads people to their conclusion, and we ccant deny each others experience, so whats good for you, go and enjoy, whats good for me, i will do the same, i been cut and my ideas changed after that.Comment

-A blue belt would kill a wrestler, wouldnt even be remotely close, as far as grappling. MMA who knows what the wrester or the BJJ guy knows for standup, but wrestlers get owned in BJJ studios, they have a good base, but fall into positions they dont realize are disadvantageous for themselves. They get tapped quickly, some have lots of energy and move fast, which gets them into trouble. It can be a good start, because of the base, to be a wrestler first. What wrestlers have done that I have seen is they can sometimes catch a guy (a white belt) in a guillitine choke, thats about it. I would (will) bet any amount of money that two guys equal size, one just a wrestler and one a blue in BJJ, that the BJJ guy would win easy. yea some asshole tried to stab me with a philips head screwdriver, I didnt even see it until the last second, for all you karate guys, its a whole new scenario when the guy WILL stab you if you fail to get the knife, or the screwdriver in the case, away from him. The guy was way bigger than me and coked out, my hands were full even if he didnt have the weapon, but I danced around and avoided the stabs as they were aimed at my head. I decided it wasnt worth taking from the guy and got in my car, called the guy a pussy, told him to put it down, he wouldnt, tried to stab again so I left...........funny thing was i was in my viper which has no space to carry shit, unlike m other vehicles, else i woulda pulled my own weaponComment

guys im not knockin bjj, i train it, but the guys i seen get killed in the street, thought the it was like in the school, a wrestler picked the bjj guy up, slammed him, bjj try to pull guard, wrestler picks him up and slams him on his back on the street, and punches him into unconsciousness, ive seen similar shit on like 5 occasions.
also a buddy of mine bounces in LA, seen one of ricksons blackbelts get wiped by a striker, shit happens.
in the school, wrestlers do get kiilled by bjj, but street is way differnt, if the wrestler cant mount in the street, hes usually in trouble with a wrestler, wrestlers are keen to what bjj guys do, and they know to mess you up when in guard, and lets fface it alot guys try guard against wrestlers,cause you aint takin them down.
bjj rocks, but its not the majic martial art.i have relied on my chinese arts way more, in bar fights, boxing, xingyi, or wing chun have always come in handy. all arts are good for what they specialize in.
very rarely in my neighborhood are fights one on one, especially with all the gangs now, id rather hit and move.Comment
