hey, i have ten of the gracie jiu jitsu tapes, and they are more than sufficient. if you try them out, you will come out a better fighter than you went in.

thing is that BJJers don't really cross-train in wrestling and wrestlers always do some kindo of BJJ cross-training, wether it is with a instructor, videos, books, ....

thats actually not true at all. more and more bjj schools are incorporating wrestling, judo, and submission wrestling techniques into their programs to elevate their game.

well, i suppose you're right since gracie jj is kind of outdated. but not all the street punks out there are going to be decent martial artists. they usually have gangs and don't really know how to fight, just throw at the head. gracie gives excellent advice on how to come out of an unprofessional situation to someone who isn't really educated in martial arts.

personnaly i think bjj is good um for people who dont know how to fight but for real in tuned martial artist most fights wont end up on the ground but it is good for like street fights with unexperianced fighters.

dude, gimme a break, any greco guy would have tooled most the karate guys also, same with sombo, etc, those guys on the tape had no experience against grappling at all, except the luta livre guys, and how bout this scenario

20 kids and cousins all raised in an art since diapers, is it the style, or the experience? sparring partners galore, etc.

its no different than the thai mopping up the kickboxers in the early days.

there is nasty indonesian grappling as well as mongolian, etc, theres grappling all over the world,

these were challenge fights in open spaces, and they dominated, not one streetfighht i had was in an open space, and grappling wasnt an option, so by the way, whpo have the gracies beat lately/ didnt serra lose, didnt renzo lose? who does rickson fight? didnt sakuraba destroy a clan?

i love the gracies, but i have no blinders on, nobody knew it back then, now americans have changed it, its now AMERICAN JIU JITSU, just as the gracies changed judo to bjj, they should now give credit and call it american, since sombo leglocks have been added, and greco takedowns, it has been changed and refined, NO DIFFERNT FROM WHAT HELIO DID.

i believe sombo and greco roman also took in some brazilian jiu jitsu so there is absolutely no arguement in that. And abou the American Jiu jitsu, try Japanese Jiu jitsu all over again, they were all tried b4 in japan b4 it ever came to america..nationalism is good but dont go ahead judging something you dont know..And i dont understand why you people are so hard headed either, Bjj obviously beat any different style b4 whether it be greco roman(lmao how could you even say this, its good for upper body takedowns only)
and Sombo i respect, i believe its better than bjj in the takedown aspect...

yeah, that's what i was trying to say. but even for a high-tuned martial artist, there's always something new to perfect. yes, i realize you have to be clay-mation to say something like that. but you get my point....
