I agree with Latino read up as much info as you can & Consult a Doctor prior to using Steriods. Though, I'm sure you know, steroids can harm you even if you're not on other medications. I'd suggest taking some more mild medications before you make the leap to steroids. You don't seem like a meathead but don't go into juicing thinking the side effects will never happen to you because they can and will. I'm assume your wife wants you to live a full and happy life, just as you would want her to have. How would you feel about your wife taking roids? I'd talk it over with her if I were you, as marriage is a partnership and the decisions you make about yourself will affect the people who care about you most of all. What are your goals? Athletes who take steroids are often willing to risk lower life expectency for increased performance. I have heard a small amount of steroid can be good for your health but I'm not sure if it's such a small amount it wouldn't even effect you performance. Good Luck whatever path you choose.

"As I have written before in previous articles, as much as possible should be gained from natural training before steroids are used, and this can mean as many as 8 or 10 years of natural training (i.e. without anabolic drugs).
When steroids are used and the body is already very fit from years of training in the gym, then the steroids have a much greater and more beneficial effect than they would have on a previously untrained body, and this is due to the difference in initial fitness between the two: the fitter and stronger the body is to begin with, then the better it can use the steroids and other anabolic drugs that may be used."

my cousin was into body building, and he used to take roids. that is until his gf left him cause she said he was getting to big and grotesque and he was flipping out all the time, and then his best friend who was his lifting partner died from taking roids. his heart just failed one day. now he does mainly cardio and some light lifting.

Originally posted by Mike BrewerMany years ago, I was training with some guys from the Navy Seal Teams on the East Coast. A few of them were what I'd call heavy users. Their results were astonishing, and they had very few, if any, negative side effects. Of course, they all did this under the close supervision of a doctor. I tried a cycle once around that same time. Granted, it has been over ten years, but I found some very impressive results as well. I don't advocate using drugs these days, but I also believe that decision is a personal choice, so be informed. Here is a no BS look at what I found.
I was using a minimal dosage, and I cycled for eight weeks. I used a combination of dianabol and sustanon, but not in anywhere near the dosages I'd heard about from my bodybuilding acquaintances. I gained roughly 18 pounds of lean mass in the final six weeks, and lost a lot of fat. Of course, I was also focusing heavily on major muscle group lifting (not detail work), and lots and lots of martial arts. I experienced no skin problems or mood swings, but then, my dosages were very low. I also saw a doctor once a week while on them, and was totally open and honest with him about what I was doing and why. He was very non-judgemental and maintained my confidentiality. Contrary to a lot of the bad press, my side effects were largely positive. I lost fat and gained muscle, obviously, but my blood pressure and heart rate also improved. Not only did I not experience any negative mood swings, I felt more positive and happy about my workouts. Also contrary to popular propaganda, my libido increased dramatically as well. I still have all my hair, and my balls are the same size they've always been.
Now the down side. All the lean mass I gained - ALL of it - was gone within a month of my cycle. I actually got puffier, and put back all of the body fat I'd lost, and then some. I researched carefully before doing anything, and so I knew what to expect and I wasn't too worried about it, but if you're the type of personality that really NEEDS to see results from training every day, there's a strong chance you'll become at least psychologically dependant on steroids. You work out with much greater ease, recover faster, and see tremendous gains while on your cycle, but when you're off, everything is work. You kill yourself in training to make a tenth of the progress you made while using, and that drives a lot of people to get back on them. Excessive use turns into abuse, which leads inevitably to all the horror stories you've read about. In a nutshell, the gains you make are not only an illusion (they're the result of the chemicals - not your efforts), they actually make regular workouts seem much more difficult than ever. All things being equal, I say leave them alone. Unless you're looking to be a serious bodybuilding competitor, or you really can't hang without the extra edge as a fighter, the payoff isn't worth the investment. I don't think they're anywhere near as dangerous as people would like you to thnk they are, but you have to be a very mature and responsible user, and you have to know when to leave them alone.
Bear in mind, I'm writing this under my own name, and I'm not trying to hide from my past use. On the contrary, the fact that I have used them gives me the ability to tell you honestly that I don't think steroids are worth it. No propaganda, no BS. Let your own willpower and efforts do the work, and you'll be far better off.

this thread was quite interesting as well, had to bump it.
btw mike, did these SEALS take steroids to become better soldiers or for aesthetic reasons?? also, does our military ever give steroids to certain soldiers to enhance their abilities in combat, or for missions, etc? just curious.

In low enough dosages, steroids are PROVEN to be good for you. So is HGH. Both HGH and testosterone levels begin to decrease with age, and bringing the levels back up is not unhealthy. But the amount is sometimes hundreds of times smaller than those used in competitive bodybuilding and powerlifting.

There are many possible long term side effects of steroid use. Don’t kid yourself into thinking that b/c someone from your gym have been off them for a few years and hasn’t died yet or one study says take them and you'll live forever they must be safe. Toying with steroids is a high risk activity and the user should be aware that they may face repercussions in the future that may result in decades being shaved off their life. There are also short term cosmetic and psychological implications of steroid use. Personally I can identify with gifted athletes that choose to use them. They are the best at their sports and stand to gain a good deal of money and notoriety if they excel in their field. For those individuals it becomes a risk vs. reward argument. I, however, hate to see an average sucker, that despite all steroids in the world, will never achieve anything more than an extra 50lbs of muscle and a bad heart valve at 48 years old waste their health on a juvenile and vain pipedream.
