  • Oh Lawd they let thai bri come back.....

Anyway you can think what you want about pro wrestling because I didnt say it as fake of real but its still good entertainment.

I still think your beyond ignorant to think Bruce Lee had nothing to do with martial arts though.... Really beyond mental patient type ignorant.

He was not an alien, he was not the son of god, he is not still alive working as a secret agent (most famous film start in china trying to be a secret agent? lol), he was not the greatest person who ever lived. We don't know whether he was the greatest martial artist of the 20th century because 1) How do you define "greatest"? and 2) He didn't prove himself to be the greatest. If "greatest" means "best at fighting" then Bruce Lee would have had to fight lots of other martial artists to prove that he was the greatest. He didn't. If by "greatest" you mean "most famous" then yes probably but how does being famous make you great?
Are you saying there are and where better Martial Artist than Bruce Lee?
If so. Who really cares If he wasn't? Bruce surely set the standards. He was n example to the world. He made the world stop and look. Lizard, when ever I look back on movies with Bruce in, I am always questioning how the hell is he that fast. It is easy to forget whet someone has achieved than it is to forget what you have achieved.

I ask you to not like Bruce. Not worship Bruce. But the respect Bruce. He made martial arts what it is today.
By that I mean before Bruce opened his schools in America the only martial art Americans learnt where Karate, Judo and Jui Jitsu. And still martial arts where not very popular. Bruce made martial arts popular without a question.

I'm not against Bruce Lee at all. But I AM against blind hero worship that is big on myth, exaggeration and starry eyed nonsense. Like Robert said, if Bruce really was that superhumanly amazing, where are the people who can match that performance? All other athletic endeavours have performances that are surpassed as time goes on. Why not martial arts?

The answer is obvious. The performances of old ARE surpassed. Its just the myths that can't be beaten.
I have seen about 5 Bruce Lee documentaires and all of them say that Bruce got into a lot of street fights.

        • Anybody here ever sparred with a heavyweight or lightweight boxer?

Ive dont both, i sparred with Price Naseem Hamid himself once in Nottingham, the man used to move like LIGHTNING, realy fast tough lad and even though his punches werent heavy his speeds were stunning. I didnt spar with with individual but I once did catch him in the gym, Lennox Lewis is a heavyweight.. the man an throw punches at enormous speed and power, anyways i wore the pads while he punched.... god damn is that man heavy handed.

According to my grandad Bruce Lee packed the same power as Ali, and my grandad was one who got around and did a lot in his life so if theres anybodu that knows anything about that its my grandad.... and he knows from experience too having sparred with alot of pro boxers including Ali himself.

LOL Im gonna go to that gym again and found out if I can knock out Lennox Lewis next time im in London, J/K.

          • Oh yeah, Bruce Lee was a troublesome youth, thats why his parents put some money into his back pocket and and sent him to America... because they thought fighting would be the death of him if they didnt get him out of there.

They are/were both champions.. But then Naseem came down to earth after fighting some real "Vatos" from Mexico. He seems to have fought a lot of slow whiteboys from europe. Granted he has some latinos/african americans but not as nearly as many as he shouldhave. I mean beating up on Scottish/Welsh pub champions doesn't impress me much. If you want respect in the boxing world IMHO you have to spend most of your fights beating african americans and mexicans.

I wonder if Robert who thinks Bruce Lee never got in real fights thinks pro wrestling is real? I mean, according to his logic, they go to the hospital, however they don't usually get killed.
Oh lord, just how poor is your reading comprehension? I've said that Bruce got in fights when he was a kid. The only fight anyone seems to recollect when he was older was against Wong Jack Man when Bruce was 24, and maybe a fight against an extra or two. I never said he didn't fight anyone. Also, I clearly said professional wrestling is entertainment, but that the guys doing it are professional atheletes. If you doub that, I highly recommend challenging one of them.

And where did you get this they go the hospital and don't get killed? What does that mean? I'm totally puzzled. I said people who get into street fights often wind up in the hospital. If a blade is pulled, yes, someone usually dies. That was my point; your interpretation of my point is totally inscrutable. Its good to see people training everything except their brains around here.

                      • Robert,

I guess getting hit in the head too many times has effected your shoort term memory. You said that your proof that Bruce Lee didn't get in street fights was that he wasn't killed and didn't go to the hospital. Your words. Go back and read them.
Now you're saying if a blade is pulled someone usually goes to the hospital. No one has mentioned blades in this whole thread until you just now.
I guess the only thing wrong with anyone's reading comprehension is that we read the words you wrote, but you apparently meant something sompletely different than what you said.
